I also recalled that Microsoft has made improvements to Windows 10s audio infrastructure such as improved audio stack to cut down on latency, FLACALAC support, WASAPI enhancements, and so on.
Where Is Microsoft Sound Mapper Driver Vs ManufacturerOut of curiosity, I uninstalled the Realtek Audio driver on my PC and switched to the default Windows 10 audio driver (71516 10.0.14393.0) to see if there are really any benefits. Id say, sound quality is slightly better, but that might be more of a placebo effect. The only real loss of uninstalling the Realtek driver is the the simultaneous audio stream on both rear and front audio jacks and 5.1 channel support. It doesnt bother me anyway since my speaker has an external audio jack that i can use to plug in my headphones and 5.1 channel is useless on my setup. I want to know, whether or not removing the manufacturer driver and using the default Windows 10 audio driver brings any benefit to the end-user Perhaps, if you are a music producer, i would like to hear your thoughts about it. Realtek driver handles both analog outputs as Speakers meaning that you cant use the menu to change between devices, you have to plug and unplug the headphones. The same behavior is on my Xonar Essence card with their drivers, but theres a program for Xonar cards called XonarSwitch where I can just change between those easily. Better soundcards audio interfaces give you lower latencies, so theres less crackling and popping. ASIO4ALL fixes this a little bit, but it can still make it crackle if theres a lot going on. Though I havent tested it on Windows 10, as I bought my Xonar when Windows 10 didnt yet exist. Also if you need to record real instruments (I dont, as I make electronic) then you will need an audio interface to get a good sound. Has Windows 10 made it easier for you to produce Music I mean, Microsoft was boasting how they made improvements to audio in Windows 10 and i was curious to know how it performs in real-world usage. Continue this thread level 1 2 points 3 years ago I lost HDMI audio with the windows 10 driver. The front panel is AC97 and it was set to AC97 in the BIOS, but Windows 10 would still think it is HD audio and try to do headphone detection, which will not work with an AC97 plug. Annoying as hell. My audio drivers are VIA and unlike realtek, the via app doesnt even run on windows 10 so i cant mess up with some custom sounds settings etc. I was able to run it on 8.1 and 7. Having Realtek HD drivers installed makes my devices and printers window take a long time to populate, about 30 secs instead of being instant. However, using default Ms drivers means losing the stereo mix recording source, which can be used to record what you hear. Proper solution would be Realtek fixing the drivers or MS removing the useless speakers entry from DP.
